The games Science Girls, Magical Diary, Date Warp, Long Live The Queen, and Black Closet are copyrighted by Spiky Caterpillar and Hanako Games. Feel free to redistribute the demos; please do NOT redistribute the full versions.

Other games may be owned by other people - check the individual game's credits to see who.

While our games are not free software, they do make use of free software. In particular, we use the Ren'Py visual novel development environment, which in turn uses the following components:

  • Ren'Py (MIT license)
    • Python (Python License)
    • Pygame (LGPL)
    • SDL (LGPL)
    • SDL_image (LGPL)
    • SDL_ttf (LGPL)
    • SDL_mixer (LGPL)
    • Freetype (LGPL)
    • FFmpeg (LGPL)
    • Fribidi (LGPL)
    • jpeg (JPEG License)
    • libpng (PNG license)
    • zlib (Zlib License)
    • bzip2 (Bzip2 License)
    • pyobjc (MIT License)
The Linux builds may also include code from:
    • directfb (LGPL)
    • svgalib (LGPL)

The source code for the libraries Ren'Py uses is available in renpy-deps-6.10.1.tar.bz2. The easiest way to get started writing your own Ren'Py games, though, is probably to download a binary Ren'Py distribution from renpy.org.

The Cute Knight Kingdom port and Spiky Caterpillar's Python GM Runtime both use SDL_gfx 2.0.20 (LGPL) and euclid.py (LGPL). You can get the source for SDL_gfx in SDL_gfx-2.0.20.tar.gz or the latest version of SDL_gfx (2.0.21, at the time of this writing) from the developer's site at ferzkopp.net.

euclid.py is included with Spiky Caterpillar's GM Runtime and the Linux and Mac builds of Cute Knight Kingdom.
